What philosophy lies at the foundation of LaborGit? What are we building? What is our faith?
The answer is simple: "Each person lives many times, and each of their lives is labor, labor from century to century."
This is a quote from the second volume of the wisest book "Two Lives" by K. Antarova (http://vedin-svet.narod.ru/kn/3_dve_jizni.htm).
The ideas of this book are our main philosophical foundation. I would like to boldly think that LaborGit is a technological foundation for promoting some of the ideas of Two Lives in the modern world.
Here are these ideas, in my own words:
- A person does not live once, but thousands and thousands of times
- A person is born to labor
- Loyalty is very, very, very important. Faith and loyalty are one and the same.
- The cause of evil is human egocentrism
- Any tears a person sheds are only about themselves
- Strength lies in calmness and self-control. The strongest is not the one who makes the most noise, but the one who is the most imperturbable. Any irritation is poison.
- Each ordinary day is like one small life
- There is no past or future, there is only the fleeting minute of the present
- The law of cause and effect
- You cannot separate yourself from anyone. All people are brothers
- Be attentive to encounters. There are no accidental encounters
- You cannot take money for your talent
- Do not let anyone insult your Motherland
- Joy is an invincible force!
- There are no miracles, only knowledge
- Conquer with love
These are correct, wise, simple truths. And labor is their unifying element, a necessary condition.
Can labor be viewed as a religion? This brings to mind M. Weber's "Protestant work ethic" and W. Benjamin's "Capitalism as religion."
It is tempting, of course, to create a new religion. Some create a new programming language, others, following an old and good human habit, create a religion. In Ilf and Petrov's "One-Story America," the "weight" religion was mocked, where each participant stepped on a scale and had to pay the church as much as they weighed to cleanse their sins. "Very convenient," the authors laughed.
No, labor cannot be turned into a fetish.
Conscious, recorded labor carries within it a key element of any religion – "freedom from worry." You track your honest workday, check against your goals, whether you are steering in the right direction, make a plan for the next day, and go to sleep peacefully. LaborGit truly helps you live, fills existence with meaning.
No, not a fetish, but a tool. The whole focus is on Goals.
